F A Qs...and the fine print

Clothing Suggestions
The clothes you wear are a very important part of making a timeless portrait. With that in mind, get involved and collaborate planning. The best sessions result from choosing the right clothing for the type of image you are trying to make.
Generally , wear medium to dark solid colors. Avoid patterns, stripes or plaids. Avoid logos-they are distracting. We want to keep the attention on you and not on your clothing. To keep it comfortable, wear casual, classic clothing. Texture in the fabrics create interest . Knit sweaters and turtlenecks work well. Women should wear long or short sleeve, not sleeveless tops.
Also-be prepared to take off your shoes and sit on the floor. Some of the most fun, relaxed sessions evolve that way.

Booking Appointments
Photography sessions are typically booked out a few weeks in advance. However, we will always try to work with your timeline if possible. For sessions with small children, I suggest morning appointments while they are fresh, fed and rested. Outdoor sessions work best either early in the day or later afternoon and early evening when the sun is not as harsh, creating undesirable shadows. Cloudy days make wonderful lighting for outdoor photography.
If your child is ill, please call to reschedule. We understand this happens. If you must cancel, please try to do so at least 24 hours before your session.
A booking deposit in the amount of your session fee will be charged at the time you make your appointment to reserve your alotted time. We accept Visa, Mastercard, cash and checks.

Sessions are tailored to your needs - whether it is a morning session for a newborn baby or an evening time when the whole family can be together. I do my best to work around naps and work schedules. Please allow at least an hour for your session. Some will need more and some, less. Again, I try to customize to your needs. In my experience with children, I try to work quickly because often they allow only a small window of opportunity. Because I strive to optimize your time, sometimes we must take breaks or give the little ones time for a snack if that is called for. No reason to rush a session.
Sessions in your home can last an hour or more, depending on what we are working towards.

Quality and creativity take time. From session to delivery of your portraits, I spend on average 20 to 30 hours working with you and your project to ensure your portrait is just how you envision it. Please keep this in mind when booking to leave plenty of time for deadlines you may have. Normal portrait orders require approximately 3 to 4 weeks and any custom or specialty orders may require 4 to 6 weeks.

After the Session
Images will be presented for viewing approximately 10 to 14 business days after the session, during your private consultation / viewing appointment in my studio. At that appointment, we will discuss your portrait options, custom cropping, matting and any ideas you have for displaying your portraits. Once you have completed your decision process at the presentation appointment, we can accommodate out of town family with an online gallery of images for 5 days which allows distant family and friends to view and order portraits of their own. After that time the gallery will automatically expire and your images will be archived. To have a gallery re-installed will result in a $25 fee.
To prevent backups in our workflow, all images from sessions without orders 30 days beyond the time of your presentation appointment will be purged. Ordered images will remain on file for a year following your session should you ever need additional portraits.

Portrait orders must be placed and paid in full at the proof consultation session. Online galleries will be available for 5 days. It is recommended that anyone wanting to make purchases do so within this time frame. Reinstalling your gallery after it expires is subject to a $25 fee each time.
